Abstract
Painful bone metastases are common in cancer patients. These pains from metastatic bone lesion are controlled by radiation therapy, pharmacologic treatment and neural blockade. Oral or parenteral medication has been considered as a mainstream palliative treatment of metastatic bone pain. We tried to use an intra-lesional steroid injection to treat the localized pain induced by metastatic bone lesion in two patients. Their localized bone pains were immediately improved by an intra-lesional steroid injection into painful metastatic bone lesion. Our experiences suggest that intra-lesional injection of steroid may be one of the useful alternative therapeutic modalities in patents with localized pain by a metastatic bone lesion.
